An accurate system which could predict and identify local extent complications a serious inflammation beneficial patient outcome. aim was to establish value CTSI in predicting acute compare it with accuracy serum CRP concentrations. Methods: Prospective clinical study based on analysis 55 patients. Each underwent thorough biochemical CECT abdomen. within 5 days, level 48 hours after admission. Results: mean values predictive markers mild severe groups were: computed tomography index 1.26 6.30 (p<0.001) 96.0 mg/l 192.4 (p<0.001), respectively. sensitivity, specificity, positive value, negative were calculated (greater than 3: 85%, 98%, 92%, 95%, 95%) (equal to, or greater 150 mg/l: 74%, 50%, 94%, 76%).Conclusions: We found close correlation levels patients having score 3 had excess mg/l. incapable identifying complications. reliable method staging showing occurrence

Computed tomography severity index, APACHE II score, and serum CRP concentration for predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis.

CONTEXT The assessment of the severity of pancreatitis is important for proper management of this challenging disease. A highly accurate system which could predict the severity and identify the local extent and complications of a serious inflammation, is beneficial for patient outcome. OBJECTIVE The aim was to establish the value of the computed tomography severity index in predicting the sev...

Resistin: New serum marker for predicting severity of acute pancreatitis

OBJECTIVE To assess the effectiveness of resistin in predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis. METHODS Patients with acute pancreatitis who presented at the Gastroenterology Clinic, Erzurum Education and Research Hospital, Turkey were enrolled in this prospective study. White blood cell (WBC), C-reactive protein (CRP) and resistin levels were measured on admission and at 24 h, day 3 and ...

A comparison of the BISAP score and serum procalcitonin for predicting the severity of acute pancreatitis

BACKGROUND/AIMS The bedside index of severity in acute pancreatitis (BISAP) is a new, convenient, prognostic multifactorial scoring system. As more data are needed before clinical application, we compared BISAP, the serum procalcitonin (PCT), and other multifactorial scoring systems simultaneously. METHODS Fifty consecutive acute pancreatitis patients were enrolled prospectively. Blood sample...

Assessment of PANC3 Score in Predicting Severity of Acute Pancreatitis

INTRODUCTION Acute pancreatitis is inflammatory process of the pancreas associated with local and systemic complications. At present, there are lots of scores (such as Ransons, APACHE II, bedside index for severity in acute pancreatitis) that help us in predicting severity at the time of admission but these are time consuming or require complex calculation and are costly. MATERIAL AND METHODS...

Predicting Acute Pancreatitis Severity: Comparison of Prognostic Scores

BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis has a broad clinical spectrum, from mild illness to multiple organ failure and death. Prognostic scores have been developed or adapted to predict disease severity. This study aimed to compare the prognostic scores according to sensitivity and specificity, receiver operating characteristic curves and area under the curve. Statistical correlation with disease severit...
